FAQS
IS STUDENTS FOR SHELTERS UTSG PART OF A GREATER ORGANIZATION?
Yes! Students for Shelters UTSG is a Chapter of the upcoming Not-for-Profit founded by Hannah Benyamin and Breanna Lakhan. Fun fact: the organization was founded at UTSG and we are the home chapter of Students for Shelters!
I AM A UTSG STUDENT. HOW DO I JOIN A MEETING OR EVENT FOR THE FIRST TIME?
If you are interested in joining us for a meeting or event, please use our "contact" page to reach out to us and we will share all relevant details with you.
CAN I ATTEND MEETINGS AND EVENTS IF I'M NOT A MEMBER OF S4S UTSG?
Non-members who are students, staff, or faculty at the University of Toronto St. George Campus, or any other University of Toronto Campus (Mississauga and Scarborough) may attend annual general chapter meetings. They may also attend any/all events run by the chapter.
For the safety of all members and non-members with institutional affiliations, those who are not affiliated with the University of Toronto are unable to attend any meetings. If you are interested in attending an event, please ensure that you notify us beforehand - unless we have explicitly made known that the event is open to the public.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
HOW CAN I JOIN THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL AT S4S UTSG?
Students for Shelters uses a democratic election process across all chapters. In order to become an Executive Council member you must be a University of Toronto St. George Campus student and meet the position requirements. Elections for the following year's Executive Council take place at the end of the current academic year. Executive Council positions are effective from April to April. All candidates must participate in an election campaign and acquire a majority vote to be elected into a position. Candidates may not run for more than two positions. Details regarding election processes will be shared closer to election dates by the UTSG Chapter co-Presidents and the Not-for-Profit co-Founders.
HOW OFTEN DOES STUDENTS FOR SHELTERS UTSG MEET?
Students for Shelters UTSG holds monthly meetings for the S4S community. At times, we might meet more than once a month and at other times we might not need to meet. All community members will be notified at least a week in advance prior to a meeting.
